Despite the widespread criticism of December’s Neiman Marcus x Target Holiday Collection, Prabal Gurung is aiming for a bullseye once more with a capsule collection to debut during this February’s New York Fashion Week. Priced at more conventional levels for the Target customer, the 80-piece line features bright blues, yellows, greens, and reds in its feminine dresses, funky graphic-print skirts, peplum tops, floral shorts, and more. The collection will also consist of sexy heels, versatile flats, and jewelry fit for every romantic occasion.
“The collection is inspired by a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the initial first crush all the way to the engagement. Both the apparel and accessories in this collection include pieces that can be worn for each of these occasions and more!” Gurung told ELLE.com, later adding, “I am a romantic at heart and truly believe in love.”

Prabal Gurung is following in the footsteps of fellow designers who have done the low end/high end collaboration. Gurung is partnering with Target for an 80-piece collection that will include women’s clothes, jewelry, shoes and bags.
“My first-ever designer Target piece I bought was Proenza [Schouler],” the Gurung tells Style.com. “I was still in school at the time and I remember telling myself that one day, I hope I get to do this—I remember it so vividly. I have thought about this collaboration for the longest period of time.”
The designer is focusing on a love theme for the line that is full of graphic prints and bold colors. Gurung focused on love milestones in a women’s life such as the first date and a first kiss.
“I was looking at my own personal journey. I started with zero, nothing, and now am doing this collaboration with a major brand like Target,” he says. “I am a product of love and support from the fashion industry, so I thought, ‘How do I make it a story about love?’”
“I imagined this girl and the diary she kept during that time, and then right before she got married, she went back and read it. It is literally her journey—it is kind of where I am in my career today,” says Gurung.
The appropriately themed collection will hit stores before Valentines Day on February 10, 2013.
The Jason Wu for Target collection is only two weeks away and we’re dying to see what he’s got up his sleeve for the super affordable mega-store. Check out the latest commercial featuring the line’s mascot, Milu.
1. 2. 3… SMIZE! Tyra has done it again! The mega-hit and fan favorite America’s Next Top Model, which first graced the small screen in 2003, is now becoming quite the brand.
Marketed to late teen to early 30-somethings, this ultra feminine floral scent, Dream Come True, is comprised of the following 4000 scents: top notes of pink freesia, red currant, and honeydew; middle notes of plum blossom, Amazonian lily, and empress peony; and base notes of blondewood, sparkling musk, Tahitian vanilla, and pink sugar. While it may sound like a lot, we’re hoping the combination all together smells as luscious as they say!
ANTM is set to release Dream Come True this January, to be sold exclusively in Target stores nationwide. Who will be the face of the dreamy fragrance? The winner of Cycle 17, of course!
Dream Come True will retail for $21.99 for a 1-oz. eau de toilette and $12.99 for a 30-ml. perfume rollerball.
Again, like we mentioned when we discussed the Missoni fo Target line, don’t EVER discount a big-box department store for fabulous fashion finds! Target is the hot spot once again for just that with the new line of Albertus Swanepoel hats. From fedoras and cloches, to a great little pillbox, Swanepoels hats are great to be any finishing touch to an outfit.
However, this is not Swanepoels first fashion endevour. As an award-winning fashion designer, the South African native has worked with the likes of Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg and Proenza Schouler by designing accessories for runway shows. However, you can now fine his own line of apparel in Barneys, Diavolina and Odin NY and even Louis Boston!
We don’t support breaking the bank for the latest and greatest, (well….with exceptions!) and neither does Swanepoel. Alberus Swanepoel’s line of fabulous hats can be found in Target stores nationwide this fall.
We’ve all heard about the Missoni for Target ad – and now the reviews are in! Initially, the thought was ‘how great – a major fashion brand designing for the commoners of America’ but how did it turn out? Some say YAY! Some say NAY! But the fact shows that its SOLD OUT!
When looking on the Target website, almost all of the items were ‘out of stock’ or only had limited sizes available. Clearly, the public LOVES the line, however those of us in the blogsphere are not as gaga for the line. Many said ill-fitting dresses and less-than-amazing material hurt their opinion of the line. However, on the flip side, it was noted that the accessories were the highlight – floppy hats, printed clutches and 100% silk scarves made up for the underwhelming clothing items.
However, despite reviews, here are a few staff favorites!
What do you think of Missoni for Target?!
Autumn is right around the corner, which means its time for hot coffees, apple picking and of course, a new wardrobe! One place to shop get some snappy solo pieces – or even a full outfit! – would be your local Target. While we don’t always think big-box department stores are the first place to get the latest style, the Converse line is not to be underestimated! For the ladies, some notable items include ruffled cardigans, abstract tops and of course, satchel bags! Maybe even a cute dress for those ‘Indian summer’ days!
Converse has all of the pieces to satisfy those traditional fall layers cravings – Jackets over hoodies over shirts - and Target has plenty of everything! The line has plenty of army and navy toned jackets with numerous pockets, zippers and epaulettes.
Each outfit or item looks complete when paired with a nice pair of classic converse. All items can be found online or in your local Target!
What pieces will you FALL in love with?!
