Is Cara Delevingne Karl Lagerfeld’s new muse?

Cara Delevingne is arguably at the height of her career. At the age of just 19, the it-girl of the fashion world has walked almost every runway from Oscar de la Renta to Fendi. She’s also been the face of Brit based fashion house Burberry multiple times, and graced the cover of British Vogue for the first time earlier this year. With her gorgeous blue eyes, plump lips and insanely symmetric face some may say that Cara is just another pretty face in the fashion industry but they couldn’t be further from the truth. Even though Cara is undoubtedly drop dead gorgeous, it’s her whacky personality and bushy brows that have captured the hearts of so many fashion moguls – Karl Lagerfeld being her latest victim. Anyone who knows anything about the fashion industry knows that Karl is one of the hardest people to crack. He has never shied away from speaking his often very blunt mind, and has gained both fear and respect for it. The fact that Karl not only photographed Cara, but also starred on Brazilian shoe giant MELISSA’s Winter 2013 issue cover with her just cements Cara’s name in the fashion industry. Karl has signed on for four seasons at MELISSA, and has designed some amazing shoes – most of which can be seen modeled by Cara in the 16 page dominatrix-esque spread. We oh so conveniently have a few pictures for you below.

After watching the teaser trailer, we somehow get the feeling that this won’t be the last time we see these two collaborating and we hope we’re right. Love these two together!

Karl Lagerfeld For The Win

Yet again, the fabulous genius Karl Lagerfeld  kicked off the Chanel autumn/winter 2013 collection at Paris Fashion Week. His “in your face, in outer space” orb (yes, that is what it seemed like) illuminated the center of the runway. The immense globe that completely took all heads to a turn was more than just a central point for the show, but was rather a pinpointing plot of C’s that illustrated every location of Chanel boutiques around the world. How clever, right?

The mastermind behind it all not only put on an extravagant show but his clothing took a turn down ‘next-level chic lane’. Long boxy coats, edgy knee-high leather boots, glowing jewelry, and an occasional pop of color added a touch of transition, along with black and white being dominant throughout the whole show. Oh did we mention those leather pants on the men? What a great surprise, you go Karl.

Chanel’s Atypical Accessories

From the large, ornate sets to the unique accessories, Karl Lagerfeld has always stressed the importance of a spectacle in his shows for Chanel. We’ve seen surfboards, fishing rods, and even small bags that were fastened around models’ ankles to resemble house arrest bracelets – a tribute to the designer’s friend, Lindsay Lohan. So, it was no surprise that Lagerfeld introduced more outlandish pieces at his show this past week. The classic quilted Chanel bag appeared to be stretched into a giant hula hoop, which was slung over the models’ shoulders in the most nonchalant manner. We’re not sure if the bags are meant for practical use or play, but luckily, they were also shown in much smaller, more reasonable versions.

Lagerfeld presented a series of hats as well, but this was far from traditional headgear. Top hats were accented by eccentrically wide brims, matching the severe circumference of the hula hoop purses. Apparently Lagerfeld was into circles this season.

Although we’re not sure if these accessories particularly appeal to us, there’s no doubt they will have at least a slight following. Some of Karl Lagerfeld’s designs are undeniably abnormal, but it’s hard to argue with Chanel.

Azealia Banks’ 1991: “Press it on Your Dial”

Azealia Banks is one of the hottest new artists. With a gig at Karl Lagerfeld’s house in Paris, a video campaign for T by Alexander Wang, and a Dazed and Confused cover (which was banned in seven countries for its raunchy implications), it’s safe to say that she has also become a new it-girl in the fashion community.  So, the editorial style of Banks’ music videos should come as no surprise.  Her videos for “Liquorice” and “Van Vogue” were both directed by fashion photographer, Rankin. Banks enlisted another fashion photographer for her most recent video, “1991.” Justin Mitchell shot Banks looking like a Parisian 1990′s dream.  The chic production certainly confirms Banks’ status as an emerging fashion icon, while the infectious beat makes the song itself irresistible. We’re looking forward to more hot singles and fashionable features from Azealia Banks, but until then, check out her video for “1991.”

Karl’s Wax Figure

We’ve been talking about Lagerfeld a lot lately which may be an indicator of our obsession with him or that he’s been up to a hell of a lot. Most recently Sir Lagerfeld was rendered by sculptor Saskia Ruth for a display at the St. Pauli Panopticon, a wax museum in Hamburg, Germany, Lagerfeld’s hometown.

Wonder what he thinks about it. And how the hell did Kim Kardashian get one first?

Karl Lagerfeld x Shu Uemura Makeup Collection

Exciting news for the beauty world – coming in November, Karl Lagerfeld is joining forces with Shu Uemura for a holiday beauty collection.  There are not many details leaked yet but the 17-piece collection will ship to Shu Uemura’s 400 stores worldwide and it’s been reported that the ad campaign has already been shot.

Lagerfeld is not only a longtime fan of Shu Uemura but has been using the brand’s products for 20 years to sketch his designs, draw portraits, and illustrate political cartoons.   Why use Shu Uemura and not simple art supplies, you ask, “because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”

Simple.

Gah, we love Karl.

Impulse Purchase: Doo.Ri for Macy’s Impulse

While Macy’s may be boosting that they are more “high end” than JC Penney’s, the proof is in the pudding, as they say! Released last year, Macy’s Impulse line has had a string of fashion designers create a line for the notable department store. First, Giambattista Valli then the very well-known Karl Lagerfeld, but their more recent collaboration is with someone a little less know, but who certainly has the designs to still make a splash!

Doo. Ri Chung, who worked in her parent’s dry-cleaning shop in New Jersey for years, brings a dynamic line to Macy’s in just a few weeks. Fashion on a budget comes in all shapes and sizes and in the 33-piece collection you’ll be able to find knit maxi dresses, tanks and tees, a couple of work-friendly blouses, bright cocktail dresses that could stand up to a casual wedding, and of course, every girl’s must-have, the LBD (little Black Dress).

Lagerfeld for Impulse Coming to Macy’s

We love when a the days draw nearer to an event we’ve been anticipating since February! Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Macy’s, The Range, will go on sale August 21st and the rumor mill says he may be making an in-store appearance at the New York City flagship store this fall.  Prices will range from $50-$170 for the clothes so this is an affordable collection that’s actually affordable.

Karl Coke…I Want One. Karl Lagerfeld for Coca Cola

Over the past few years Coca Cola has done some pretty campaigns with a slew of noteworthies including Patricia Field and Daft Punk but the Coke-Karl Colabo has got to be the best yet. Decorated simply with Karl’s silhouette on a white bottle, the Coca Cola Light bottle comes with a unique limited edition box with an accompanying bottle-opener discreetly hidden in a drawer. Awesomeness… Now, allegedly, Karl dropped that 90 pounds he was courting back in 2001 by eating only stewed veggies and drinking diet coke and while we don’t recommend anyone go on a diet coke…diet, we do suggest getting your very own Karl Coke bottle. We searched high and low for a good place to snag the buy and we’ve settled on Colette for $5.06.

We love the bottles and Nik Thakkar for the PR campaign.

Kinder Aggugini for Impulse

Hey Hey

V-Day is coming.

Who cares…well on February 15th, post v-day, Kinder Aggugini is releasing his Macy’s line, Impulse.

Macy’s?!?

Exactly.  Apparently H&M’s collaboration with Lanvin has rubbed off on the department store level and Macy’s plans to release a series of designers including Matthew Williamson and Karl lagerfeld.  But first comes London-based designer Kinder Aggugini.  Pieces will run from about $40 to $140 with specialty pieces up to $300.

Some other Aggugini work for your pleasure

Check him out February 15th at Macy’s and send us some of your best fitting room shots or even your favorite purchases.  We could use a good Bazaar Eye post, it’s been a while.

Karl and Blake

We’re not the type to fuel rumors but who doesn’t love Karl Lagerfeld and who is not slightly obsessed with Gossip girl, now picture the two combined.  While it does not make much sense that Blake Lively would be in charge of the “bring Karl to the CW” campaign rumors are floating around everywhere that Gossip Girl has scored the biggest fashion cameo in the history of television.  Who knows, I’d like to fantasize about the idea and the two were spotted leaving the Ritz together.  Why else would they be there: apart from the obvious skeptical conclusions – maybe they ran into eachother…or maybe he’s adopted her like he did Lily Allen.

Who cares.  Love them both.
XOXO
