Shop Wasteland has everything you need to complete this edgy yet gypsy-esque look; so get to the nearest computer and start raiding the look book!

    Welcome Back Kate

Katie Holmes, the recent face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics is now the new face of H. Stern “Iris” Jewelry Campaign. Being a mom, model, and actress she has got it all down. Her beauty was portrayed through a Greek mythology inspired shoot which brought focus to the gorgeous jewels, not to mention her flawless skin, dark hair and extravagant eyes that flourished in every picture. This goddess is making quite the comeback from her recent divorce of five years and being tangled up in personal life situations that become gossip for the public. We think Katie Holmes was a spot on choice for this jewelry campaign; they couldn’t have picked a more fabulous face, right?

Terry Richardson and Charlotte Free vs. the World

Well known for many a graphic photoshoot, Richardson is undoubtedly one of the best in the business, with many other photographs in his portfolio aside from lewd hipster-looking celebrities and models on a white background (although of those there are many). Quoted as once saying, “It’s not who you know, it’s who you blow. I don’t have a hole in my jeans for nothing”, it is an undisputed fact that Richardson is an artist that works with highly sexualized content.

In a since-been-deleted response to an ask on her Tumblr account, model Charlotte Free recently posted her opinions about Terry and accusations made about his sexually questionable behavior while photographing female models.

Free’s remarks, which have been documented in a screen-shot from the FashionSpot.com, have caught the eye of the media :

Loosing a modeling job for refusing to participate in sexual acts definitely should not be the fault of the model. And we love Terry’s work but we hope he’s not turning models away if they refuse to blow him. To read more articles on this subject, click here. And weigh in via the comments below!

Time to go find a kid to put in some Docs if you don’t have any lingering around.

    Rihanna for MAC

Fresh out, or in this case off, the runway and she’s not wasting any time! Only a few days after her successful London fashion debut, a collaboration between Rihanna and MAC makeup has just been announced. So, why MAC?

In an exclusive interview with WWD Rihanna said “When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC, whatever color you want, it’s like ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.” I guess that answers the question! The new collection will be called “RiRi [Hearts] MAC” and it’s first debut is set to be a red lispstick RiRi Woo modeled after the singer’s favorite MAC lipstick Ruby Woo.

Here is a first look at what’s to come

This is a first for MAC, as they have never signed on a celebrity for anything more than a one-off project. With the summer collection becoming available online and on Rihanna’s Diamonds tour, a fall collection hitting the shelves and a holiday collection we can be sure that this is more than just a one-off.

RiRi Woo will be the first item available for purchase on Rihanna’s Diamonds tour May 4th and 5th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

    Rihanna for River Island

The official print advertisement has been released, featuring Rihanna's new gal pal and London based model Jourdan Dunn.

Fashionistas and Rihanna fans alike have been on the edge of their seats since River Island announced their collaboration with superstar Rihanna last summer. The collection finally hit the runway (an hour late) during London Fashion Week on Saturday. Even though it may not been part of the official line-up it definitely drew in a crowd. The collection featured bold prints, vibrant colors and a lot of skin! Keeping in line with the edgy feel, it model of the moment and RiRi’s new bff Cara Delevingne enjoyed the show from her front row seat. If you’ve missed it, watch it below. If you like what you see, make sure to mark your calendar for March 5th, the day the collection goes on sale. No worries ladies, they ship internationally!

    Romance in Bloom

Despite the widespread criticism of December’s Neiman Marcus x Target Holiday Collection, Prabal Gurung is aiming for a bullseye once more with a capsule collection to debut during this February’s New York Fashion Week. Priced at more conventional levels for the Target customer, the 80-piece line features bright blues, yellows, greens, and reds in its feminine dresses, funky graphic-print skirts, peplum tops, floral shorts, and more. The collection will also consist of sexy heels, versatile flats, and jewelry fit for every romantic occasion.

“The collection is inspired by a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the initial first crush all the way to the engagement. Both the apparel and accessories in this collection include pieces that can be worn for each of these occasions and more!” Gurung told ELLE.com, later adding, “I am a romantic at heart and truly believe in love.”

The Prabal Gurung for Target collection will debut on February 10.

    Rock and Roll Outlaws

Part II of Saint Laurent Paris’ spring/summer ad campaign was released Tuesday, with LA musician Beck and Australian model Julia Nobis teaming up to show off Hedi Slimane’s latest collection that bleeds glamorous androgyny… and we’re into it.

While most spring campaigns are rich with color and odes to blooming nature, Beck and Nobis are appealing to our darker desires – glowing fixtures in a dark room, with Le Smoking suits and wide-brimmed hats  that would be apropos for a Jack White music video. The rock-and-roll outlaw vibe borrows from ’70s and ’90s fashion and is weaved into a streamlined look for this season; sequined tops, ruffled shirts, and slim, sexy heels standing out among the black. Voila.

    Galliano vs. Simons

Now, every time a design house takes new creative direction it is inevitable that everyone is going to compare the new guy with his or her predecessor.  And when you have a house as famous and with such visual recognition as Christian Dior the new guy ends up with major shoes to fill. Raf Simons dealt with this head on making his vision for the house very clear in a profile in Australian Vogue.

“I want to get away from couture just being done for a picture, or for a single moment on the red carpet. I want to try and convince women that couture can be worn in the day and that there’s a reality and relevance there, because that’s what Mr Christian Dior wanted. In my opinion Christian Dior was never, ever theatre.” He continues, “I have so much respect for John’s technical skills and the fantasy, it’s just something that I don’t find relevant now, especially when it restricts a woman, because in every other area they have so much freedom now.”

Whoa… now do we want monsieur minimalist to pump the breaks on his criticism of maximalist John Galliano and his ability to bring the fantasy world of our dreams to fashion or are we all about taking that museum-like curatorship off the runway?

Kendall & Kylie Jenner to Launch Teen Clothing Line

Color us… not surprised. The young Jenner girls are following close behind their sister’s footsteps as fashion designers. Kendall and Kylie are set to launch their own tween/teen fashion line come springtime.

“We always get asked what we are wearing, so when we got the chance to design our line with Majestic Mills, we were thrilled,” the Jenner sisters tell People Magazine. “We have been really excited by the creative design process from the start because we love fashion, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans!”

The Seventeen Magazine West Coast Contributors will design t-shirts, pants, shorts, and accessories.

Majestic Mills will produce the line under a license that is also home to Nicole Richie and Heidi Klum. The Montreal, Canada based company is a textile and apparel manufacturer. This is their first attempt at junior fashion.

Football to Fashion? Marchesa Designs NFL T-Shirts

Football and Fashion? A surprising, but clever, mix. This week Marchesa co-founder, Georgina Chapman, designed a limited edition top inspired by none other than the New York Jets. Chapman began the project after being approached by Suzanne Johnson, wife of Jet owner, Woody Johnson, to design a fashion forward shirt for sports enthusiasts. The dramatic and feminine shirts contain beading, embellishment and lace. Not surprising coming from the same designer who creates stunning red carpet couture. More teams are in the works to have the shirts created including the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins.

Balmain Spring 2013 At a Glance

Olivier Rousteing is just so… damn attractive and he definitely knows what he’s doing at Balmain. Each season we are so excited for and impressed by the Balmain collection that it’s safe to say that Decarnin did one hell of a job replacing himself. While we were not there (and we’re bitter about it) we still stalked the show out. Here are our favorites.

    Valentino Goes to the Ballet

Although Valentino Garavani left his namesake label years ago, he is still very involved in fashion. For his newest project, Garavani has made about 25 costumes for four out of five of the New York City Ballet’s latest productions. Two of these shows will be held at the Lincoln Center tonight, coinciding with the ballet company’s fall gala. Valentino gave Style.com an exclusive look at his pieces, all of which appear to be ornate and dramatic interpretations of some of his most famous designs from the past. The costumes are all undeniably Valentino, while still conveying the whimsical grace that accompanies a ballet production. As Valentino Garavani reminds us of his couture skills, the New York City Ballet couldn’t have hired a better costume designer.

    From Prada to Punk

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala seems like just yesterday, but the Costume Institute already has plans for the next exhibit. On May 9th, 2013, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will open the newest installment, Punk: From Chaos to Couture. The presentation will showcase the origins of punk style and its impact on modern high fashion. About 100 men’s and women’s looks will be on display, including pieces from Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Azzedine Alaïa, and the late Alexander McQueen. These designs will be shown next to original items from the mid-seventies punk rock movement.

Of course, the highlight of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Exhibit is the Met Gala, currently set for May 6th 2013. Possibly the most important event in the fashion community, the co-chairs with Vogue‘s Anna Wintour will be Rooney Mara, Lauren Santo Domingo, and Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. The anticipation for the event has already begun, as we can expect to see a lot of edgy, rocker-chic looks from the slew of celebrities and models in attendance. As always, we’re sure the Met Gala will be a night to remember!
