Rihanna’s new protege?

Now this is interesting. It’s no secret that bad gal RiRi has become super close to model of the moment Cara Delevingne, but we didn’t know they were this close! Rihanna allegedly invited the model to move into her huge LA mansion while she settles into the music industry. Say whaaaaat? You heard right, Cara may be a household name in the fashion industry, having walked shows for all the top designers, but it seems she wants to move on to another industry. The model has said she feels burnt out as far as her current career goes, and would love to take some time off and step away from the cameras and into the studio. With her funky style and super whacky (and VERY infecting personality) we can see her putting out something a la galpal Rita Ora. Maybe there’ll even be a three way collab in the future! Now THAT we’d pay to see.

MBFWA – Emma Mulholland

If Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia isn’t on your radar… change that. Australia has some of  the most forward thinking designers in the world, one of our favorite amongst them is definitely Emma Mulholland. The SS13 collection showed this past Friday and in the Emma Mulholland spirit it was a cross between Lisa Frank and to die for fashion. And we’re going to put this out there… we f***ing love it! If you haven’t had a chance to familiarize yourself with Emma Mulholland check past collections and get ready to drool.

Sneak Peek into The Great Gatsby

If you’re anything like us you’re gnawing at your nails in anticipation for The Great Gatsby theater release on May 10th. Yes! The fifth rendition of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel is coming to the screen and we’ve been getting all type of sneak peaks, making the anticipation almost stressful. With costumes  by Miuccia Prada, the soundtrack  created with Jay-Z and the 1920’s set created by director Baz Luhrim’s wife, Catherine Martin we don’t even know how to prepare ourselves for the cinematic experience of the season. Looks like we have very high expectations, and rightfully so. Check out some photos of the set designs, modeled after the great early 20th century houses of Long Island’s North Shore and recreated in Sydney, Australia.

Iggy Azalea new video “Slo” slowing down her career?

Our favorite female Aussie rapper has recently released the video for her new single Slo. We are still obsessed with “My World” and “Work” and were pretty surprised when we heard this much slower track. We’re used to fast, catchy background music and super bright outfits, and we got the exact opposite from this video. It’s done in back and white and the first time we really hear Iggy focus on relationship issues. Is this lane change slowing down her career? Not a chance! Fans and critics alike love the new jam and are itching for more music!

We’re actually glad she didn’t accept Kanye West’s offer to join his up and coming music label – she would’ve been just another industry robot. We like her like this – real and uncensored. Check out Slo below and let us know what you think!

ZARA sweatshop allegations – say it ain’t so!

We could not believe this when we heard it! Allegedly, one of our fave retailers, ZARA, has recently been accused of having Bolivian immigration workers as well as children producing clothing in “degrading” sweatshop conditions in Sao Paulo. It is said that some of the workers even live at these sweatshops and are not allowed to leave unless they are given permission. La Alameda, a workers’ rights group, also claims that these people are enduring 13+ hour workdays and even being held against their will. ZARA got their PR team to try and fix the issue, almost immediately releasing the following statement;

“We are surprised by the allegations. Based on the limited information we have received so far, the workshops in question do not appear to have any relationship with our approved suppliers in Argentina. We are keen to work with La Alameda to understand the substance of their allegations, but we have received no contact from them regarding these claims, nor have we had any contact or complaint from the Argentinian authorities.”

It seems that Inditex, the world’s biggest clothing retailer and ZARA’s parent company, isn’t too keen on waiting around. They’ve covered financial compensation for the workers as required by Brazilian law and the Inditex Code of Conduct. Inditex has been said to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to cases such as these and is looking into improving all of the alleged working conditions.

Hmmmm…. well, we also hope that this is all just one big misunderstanding. We’re not sure if we’re ready for the emotional turmoil a ZARA boycot would ensure. What do you think? Leave us comments below!

Dunst Dares to Dive into the Future

From Spiderman to…supernatural? We had to do a double take when we saw these edgey-futuristic pictures of Kirsten Dunst. This spring she will be the cover star of Bullett Magazine, which is shot by Frederik Heyman. Kirsten swapped her usual pretty girl image for an experimental shoot wearing Rodarte. She is seen flashing the “Blood” sign and many sadistic raw faces, okay Kirsten! The switch up is totally daring, compared to  her usual repertoire, but we appreciate the change.

Kesh @ Coachella

Yeah, we fell in love with Kesh way back when. You know, way back when Myspace was the place to be and no one had even heard of Mark Zuckerberg yet. That’s definitely going to be the premise for our “back in my day” story we try to tell our rugrat children and they’re just not going to believe Facebook didn’t always exist. Whatever. It’s been seriously inspiring watching her career grow from art deco t-shirt promos to major collaborations with some of the biggest brands and artists of our time! She just casually keeps great company – Natalia Kills, Theophilus London, Jeremy Scott, Steed Lord… Kanye just to name a few. And her artwork sells for a mere few thousand bucks. We really want to punch ourselves in the face for not grabbing a Kesh piece back when we could afford them. Bigons.  Well, we’re predicting with major conviction that Kesh will end up in art history books and we’ll get to say we remember when Kesh started making a major impact and all of her antics at “The Cave.”

Anywho, Kesh and Scott are clearly great pals so it comes as no surprise that the infamous Kesh will be DJing his Coachella party. Trust us kids, that is going to be the party of the weekend.

Hanson – Get The Girl Back

Seriously, nothing appeased our teenage girl angst better than Hanson. And it’s so strange that we’ve alluded to Hanson a few times in the Tosser office these past couple of months. Maybe its all this 90s nostalgia but we dropped everything when we heard that Hanson is back! With a new single, a performance on Jay Leno April 9th and a new album dropping June 18th. Is this real life! The video features Kat Dennings and Twilight’s Nikki Reed and we’ve got to hand it to them… these gents grew up quite nicely. Gahh, HANSON!

What We’re Listening To – A Walk

Ease your way into summer with simplistic alluring vibes. It is time to switch over your winter playlist to your summer playlist because music definitely has a great impact on moods. As flowers bloom, everything tends to be looking more on the bright side. There is no room for dark music when the sun in shining bright and the weather is fascinatingly warm. Tycho definitely knows how to tranquilize the mind. “A Walk”, which is a throwback from 2011, is almost like the definition of life without words; a guidance through happiness and perpetual ecstasy. It is a tone that allows you to take a moment and really let yourself breathe while at the same time begin to feel at ease. Just picture yourself running through an open field with captivating rays, surrounded by warmth and harmony. We dig this track and have it on repeat to troll our minds directly to summer. Thanks Tycho for dropping a little piece of heaven into our ears!

Or maybe it’s because they feel like the sound of summer and we’re just ready for it.

Is Cara Delevingne Karl Lagerfeld’s new muse?

Cara Delevingne is arguably at the height of her career. At the age of just 19, the it-girl of the fashion world has walked almost every runway from Oscar de la Renta to Fendi. She’s also been the face of Brit based fashion house Burberry multiple times, and graced the cover of British Vogue for the first time earlier this year. With her gorgeous blue eyes, plump lips and insanely symmetric face some may say that Cara is just another pretty face in the fashion industry but they couldn’t be further from the truth. Even though Cara is undoubtedly drop dead gorgeous, it’s her whacky personality and bushy brows that have captured the hearts of so many fashion moguls – Karl Lagerfeld being her latest victim. Anyone who knows anything about the fashion industry knows that Karl is one of the hardest people to crack. He has never shied away from speaking his often very blunt mind, and has gained both fear and respect for it. The fact that Karl not only photographed Cara, but also starred on Brazilian shoe giant MELISSA’s Winter 2013 issue cover with her just cements Cara’s name in the fashion industry. Karl has signed on for four seasons at MELISSA, and has designed some amazing shoes – most of which can be seen modeled by Cara in the 16 page dominatrix-esque spread. We oh so conveniently have a few pictures for you below.

After watching the teaser trailer, we somehow get the feeling that this won’t be the last time we see these two collaborating and we hope we’re right. Love these two together!
